The Buck Zoo History

As many of you know, I am passionate about many things. I love my husband, I love music, and I love animals. In the last 4 years I have found the man of my dreams, married him, and rescued numerous animals. I also found the job of my dreams lost said job, and added another degree to the list. So with my free time I am focusing on "what's next" for the Buck family. I should clarify the Buck family includes me, my husband, 4 cats, Dex,Sam, Jack, & Ren, and two dogs Myles and Charlie. All family members have been rescued in one way or another.
I like to think that I was the first rescued, or swept off my feet. I was very lucky to find Wayne and very lucky that he loved me! Dex was the first addition to the family, a stray kitten, hungry and lost. The family who found him were just going to shoot him because they already had a cat. (now this is the kind of mentality that makes me dislike human kind) Wayne got Dex as an early Christmas present from me! Dex is smart, and sneaky, and always in trouble! He loves his dad! Then we moved a little deeper into the Olney, IL ghetto. There we found Sam and Jack. At first they came inside to eat, play with Dex, and then back out into the elements. One Christmas they both wandered inside near death. Both sick and frail and we rushed them to the vet and nursed them back to health. That spring we also had them fixed~ these were my neighbors cat's mind you. The neighbors couldn't afford to feed or keep them and that's how they found their way to us. the neighbors were very upset that we had them fixed because they desperately wanted a litter of kittens, they wouldn't be able to feed or care for. ( who doesn't love white trash idiots) That summer we moved out of the ghetto and took Sam an Jack with us. We were a happy family of 5 until the next fall. I was sick and at the doctors office when I got a call from Wayne saying a puppy was on our porch, he looked hungry and dirty. The land lady decided she would take him to the pound. When I got home from the doctor I went to the land lady and took the dog out of the truck ( no dog goes to the pound on my watch!) brought him home, cleaned him up and fed him and the next day he went to the vet for all the fixin's. Since them we have had Myles. The most spoiled pup in the world. We were a happy family of 6 until the following Spring. I went to see Footloose at FHS and when we left there was a crying kitten under the car. It was stormy and he was scared, but I grabbed him and walked up and down the streets, knocking on doors looking for his home. No one claimed him, so I called Wayne and prepared him for the newest addition...Ren. (my baby) The we finally bought a house and moved out of that horrible place and we were a happy family of 7 until the night of our wedding reception. My friends and family thought it would be great to keep the party going at the bars in uptown Olney. When we finally arrived, there was a dog outside the bar. Two young men had brought him from another bar where he had wandered inside and some drunks thought it was funny to kick and hit him until he cried. They couldn't keep him so they just let him out and hoped someone would take him. So as I stood with in my veil and my dress, holding a dog, and crying in front of a bar, I said "we can't just leave him" and my husband the greatest man I know said, "Lindsey it's ok, we will take of him." ( see why I married him!) And so...we are now a family of 8 as we  welcome Charlie to the family!
And that my friends is the quick version of how the Buck Zoo got it's start~
